Bob Mecklenburger has been singing his folk music and performing with his acoustic 6- and 12-string guitars for over 40 years. Comfortable with both flatpicking and finger picking guitar styles, he sings his own music and that of numerous folk singers and singer-songwriters mostly of the 60s, 70s and 80s, and up to today.

He has been in the studio more than 2 years producing his debut album of his own songs, “Do It!”, just being released!  This is a studio produced album (on the Slot-1 label, Ambler, PA) with a live performance feel to it, created with an array of top musicians from the tri-state (PA, NJ, DE) area performing behind Bob’s strong baritone vocals and unique guitar style.

Bob is an active member and past president of the Princeton Folk Music Society, and an active participant and performer in the Philadelphia Area Songwriters Alliance (PASA).  Recently Bob has been a featured performer at house concerts in Philadelphia PA and Cherry Hill NJ for PASA, has played concerts at Twin Rivers NJ community center, McKinley Court (Montgomery NJ), Village Grande (West Windsor NJ), at Barnes & Noble Books for the West Windsor Arts Council, Book Marks in Montgomery NJ, Alpha Books in Pennington NJ, Failte Coffeehouse in Hopewell NJ, Mine Street Coffeehouse in New Brunswick NJ, and televised from the Café Improv at the Princeton (NJ) Arts Council.  And you’ll see him on a Saturday now and then singing at the West Windsor Farmers Market.

He has lived in seven states, becoming part of the folk scene from Illinois and Ohio of the Midwest, to New York, down to North Carolina, up to Washington DC and then Boston, MA along the East Coast, and now has resided 18 years in Princeton Junction, NJ.  Growing up in the Chicago area south suburbs, he first sang publicly at the home town “Twelfth of Never” coffeehouse, in his high school, and as a youth group song leader.  Since then he was a fixture at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, and later at the Leo Coffeehouse and concerts in Eden Park in Cincinnati, OH for the Queen City Balladeers.

Bob has been married to his beloved Judith for 36 years, and they have raised two grown up, beautiful daughters who are smarter than he is!  Now that’s something to sing about!
